Foreigners and Locals

I was reading the papers recently and I realised that Singapore's news is really... erm... non-Singapore.

Let's see... A "CD" plate car from the Romanian Embassy knocked down 3 pedestrians in a hit and run accident. To date, Mr Tong Kok Wai, a Malaysian has died. Centre of attraction at present is Dr Silviu.. None of them are Singaporeans.

Indian national Madhuri Jaya Chandra Reddy admits killing Sri Lankan prostitute.

Quoting from Straits Times online "THIS year's top O-level student Lai Kai Rou, who is from Selangor in Malaysia, was initially averse to the idea of studying in Singapore."

Bangladeshi worker, Kamrul Abdul Hasan Quddus, 35, was found guilty of killing Ms Yulia Afriyanti, 25, an Indonesian maid and will be hanged. Both non-Singaporeans.

Singapore has 30% foreigners in our workforce at the moment. I quote migrationinformation.org "The most rapid increase occurred over the last decade; Singapore's nonresident workforce increased 170 percent, from 248,000 in 1990 to 670,000 in 2006" According to the website, Singapore is THE country in entire Asia with the highest proportion of foreign workers.

In 1970, the percentage of foreign workers stands at 3.2% in Singapore and 10 yrs later in 1980, it's 7.4% and later in 1990, it's 16.1%. According to the Department of Statistics, it stands at 29.2% in Yr 2000.

From the above graph, we can see that it's increasing at an increasing rate.. Based on my projections, we will reach saturation point (i.e. 100%) in 25 years. That is from 2000 which means we will have 100% foreigners in Sigapore by 2025. Well, of course, we will not have zero Singaporeans on this sunny island we call home.. it would just mean that the locals are so few that we are negligible... There is only one solution to that problem and it's a no-brainer..

Give away Singapore Citizenship.. Have more "New Citizens" Yay... Yipee..
