In Office

I'm in office now. Lunch time but not eating with the rest. I'm going to move office soon and I've got to clear my food stuff. Ha, so here I am clearing my cup noodles. It's a rainy day and it's so shiok to have nissin with me and a cup of drink.

The little things in life.

For the past weekend, I've been around the island taking photos. Going to post them up soon I hope. Going to find time for that. Yay, tomorrow is a public hol. Good break from all the work. My work is not exactly stressful or anything. In fact, I find that it lacks challenge. haha. It's not stressful enough. Come on, give me more. I feel like a retiree now... I like the times where I have so much things that I do not have free time. I like the feeling of getting many things done. a sense of achievement....

Anyways, as i was mentioning, I'm going to shift office soon. Going to be at a place nearer home and perhaps that'll cut my traveling time by that little bit. I'm now counting down to that day (prob mid Oct). Better food awaits me.... ha.

Looking forward to December and yes, planning to go on hols. Yup, probably the first time you hear someone going on hols during probation. Ha, but who cares. Just take leave la. Boss has regretted giving me a verbal approval. And the tickets have already been booked. Haha...

Company's computer sucks. Many things cannot do. Websites can't visit. Talking of which, I'm having problems with codex in my home laptop... Haiz. Irritating.

Reasons why you should plan for your Wedding

Some people say I'm not doing my part in the wedding planning. I've decided to psycho myself that I should get started. So Ta-da...

1. Your mother is getting tired, you'll need to get a wife to relieve her duties.

2. You can save time and money by not needing to send your girlfriend home.

3. It can potentially be a money generating event so long as you get your PNL correct.

4. Your fiancee is getting all jumpy.

5. There are savings when you act fast, beating the inflation is one of them.

6. You can make babies and enjoy the hand-outs from our government.

7. You don't want to waste all your effort and money spent during the proposal stage, for completeness sake, finish up with the wedding.

8. After wedding, you'll need not be afraid of your girlfriend walking out on you (provided she's a Christian and don't believe in divorce).

9. The coke, potato chips and remote control are just a shout away.

10. Property prices will go up, might be a good idea to get a flat soon.

updates

well, i realised that i've been working for 6 weeks now. There are many things that I want to do but have since been unable due to work. That's sacrifice i guess. I've always wanted to meet up Stephen, my NUS buddy but ever since he started working too, both of us are so busy. He, is also working at Changi and is an engineer. I think his job is really tough as it's long hours and from what i heard, it's very demanding with a very steep learning curve. The pay, however, is quite good. That's due to his past working exp as well.

For my current job, everyone is new in this and so, it's not so bad cos we're all learning together. The people all around me are telling me that I'm very blessed. Of cos they do not use the word bless, but they just say I'm lucky. ha. I think my colleagues envy me. God is good. Recently, a new colleague has been added to my team. He has 28 years of experience but he still look so young. The reason? He goes to the gym 3 times a week. Last night, Pastor talked about looking good and sharp. No sloppy attitude. I think I should really start working out and the only time I can think of is the weekends. Haiz. Did I mention that every day, I'm reaching office before 8am? Well, not really because of work... But just to beat the traffic and ERP.

I was listening to a song last night. After reaching home at 12 midnight, I on my computer and started to find the song. It's nice. It's called Today by CCC. I have yet to try it out on the guitar. With just 1 guitar, its effects will be limited. I'll see how things goes. Everyday, I leave home before sun up and I reach home after sun down. I do not want my neighbours to complain abt my guitar playing..... hmmm...

Weddings

Weddings are really not easy. Without proper planning, it can really be a disaster. Just heard of a wedding where the bride nearly walked out of it. I think there was some misunderstandings or something. Heard of weddings where the camera man overslept, wedding car no show, rings forgotten, no wedding march-in song, no wedding march-out song, mic spoil, MCs blur, no ushers, black-faced ushers, sudden sabo by no show friends, lightings went wrong, video montage played wrongly, wrong wedding room, etc... What else can possibly go wrong in a wedding???

My Views

I've just got my new laptop and so using this to blog now. Recently, the news headlines have been on the foreign workers quaters at serangoon gardens and how the petition has seem to changed the decision but more imptly, the effects of the petition spread to why ppl will do that and really require us to think twice about making certain decisions esp as a country with regards to foreign workers.

First, let's just say that we - Singapore cannot do without foreign workers. Just like how the human race cannot live without robots in Wall-E, we are very dependable on the foreign workers be in Indian nationals, Chinese or Bangladeshi workers... There are just jobs that Singaporeans do not want to do. However, having these foreign workers bring about their fair share of problems too.

Few weeks back, in the forum of Straits Times, there was a female, a NUS undergrad to be exact, wrote in abt her experience at tanah merah. She was molested by a drunk, dark skinned foreign worker. He "touched" her and ran off. She gave chase but after catching him with the help of a passer by, he still maanged to escape before hte police arrive. This tells us that there are problems with the increase of foreign workers.

Their presence is also not unnoticed in my neighbourhood. Every night when I come back, I really feel like i'm booking into a foreign worker's dorm. There will be Indian/ Bangladeshi nationals drinking and sitting at any grass patch they can find. Chinese nationals talking on the phone very loudly. Even the sweeper from Bangladesh has a handphone. To add on, check out Boon Lay MRT area on a weekday after 9pm. The park does not bring peace but is rather filled with Indian/Banglaeshi workers. I thought bollywood was doing a movie shoot that day...

Talking about Jurong Point, I was onboard a bus which i think is 193 that time and I saw a foreign worker peeing in public by the road. He was in clear view of any one who was driving along that stretch of road that leads to the factories. Along their criket pitches, you will also find bottles of beer and foodleft overs. Well, the good thing is that the next morning, a fellow country mate from their country will be responsible to clean up the streets. I begin to wonder, perhaps if we employ less foreign workers, we may then only need to employ fewer foreign workers to clean up the mess. It's just like we will not have virus if we don't pay anti-virus companies to do their job...

I am just wondering which Singaporean family will choose to go Boon Lay park to have a family outing... I have never seen a Singaporean young child running freely at the park. If you see, pls tell me. But if you think about it, the cost of building the park actually comes from our taxes. Hmmm... so what's the total cost of havingthe foreign workers in SG?

Another problem of foriegn workers is security. Look at the Henderson murder case. Enough said.

All in all, I wonder if there are any statistics on the number of ministers who live in HDB heartlands and have their own kids grow up in void decks/parks that is filled with foreign workers? How many really know what it's like? It's like a manager sitting in a high office, not knowing what's going on the ground. If you ask an army general about shellscrape, they can tell you the dimensions, the strategy to place them, the space seperating one from another etc, but how many really know how to dig a shell scrape fast? How many ministers actually know how it is like to live near or rather in the midst of the foreign workers. Ya, not all are bad, but some spoil the general image. I was in the bus the other day, When I reached my stop, the Bangladeshi worker sitting beside me started keeping his stuff. I thought he was getting off to but after a long while, when everyone else had alighted, he was still fiddling with his stuff. Then I stood up and he looked at me. I indicated that I'm getting off and he sat up straight, expecting me to squeeze bet his legs and the chair in front. He didn't not even turn his body for me to pass. Then his friend told him what to do and finally I manage to get off. Maybe he just came over.

Anyways, I was watching money no enough 2 and Jack Neo correctly depicts the situation we are in now with inflation and ERP and all that. However, he didn't mention the social issues of foreigners. Ya, we citizens have areas to protest now. But just as Mr Brown puts it, why not have the designated area be at Lim Chu Kang cemetery? It's no different from Hong Lim. Talking of social issues, I think these are topics that people from high up there will want to study. Presidents, ministers, UN, Uni researchers are all interested in solving social issues. However, what do they know abt them? Have they got the 1st hand encounter? But the people who face these issues first hand often are unable to sit at such high offices. So it's a chiken and egg story. Minister cannot be seen living at HDB, it doesn't make Singapore look good too. So their understanding of what we are going thru as heartlanders is limited. See, it's only when they want to move to serangoon gardens will the ppl staying in huge houses and ppl with high net worth make noise. And the thing is that the noise they make are noticed. If the people of boon lay sign a petition against foreign workers gathering at the fields, what's gonna happen? Perhaps some NUS social science major can take this as a FYP.

Last note, just want to leave a story. I was on a MRT and 2 females were chit chatting. Sudden;y, 1 complained that there are too many Bangladeshis in the train. The other said, don't be rude, cannot be so racist. the friend explained that she's not racist but she said "If you have not been touched by them, you will not knpw." I got a shock when I heard that. Then the friend tried to defend by saying perhaps it's the train that's too crowded and thus, the accidental touch was unavoidable. So the arguement went on and if you think that that was a terrible situation. Considering that it's another case of molest by foreign workers, let me tell you the worst part is not over. As I was leaving, I turned to see who they were. How chio are they to attract the attention of the foreign workers. They were 2 aunties. Thinking about it really place Singapore in great danger.

30th Post

It's been a long time since I've posted a post. Work has been busy and it's really amazing how God gives you what you asked for. I wanted a job that is exciting challenging and also rewarding. I clearly said it has to be aviation related and not hardcore engineering. If possible something at the management level. So here i am, trying to cope well. In any case, it's a job that I've wanted and it sure is interesting. I got to go up 2 aircrafts that day and I do not need to be seperated from my loved ones. Hee. I shall not reveal too much. But yea, I'm lovin it.
